Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires four additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. It is the surgical specialty of dentistry, as recognized by the American Dental Association. As surgical specialists, our doctors are uniquely qualified to perform many surgeries of the teeth, jaws and face, such as dental implants, wisdom tooth extractions, and orthognathic (jaw) surgery.  All the surgeons at SBOMS are board certified by The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and The American Dental Society of Anesthesia.  Additionally, all SBOMS surgeons are certified instructors by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS) and certified providers in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).  **
